Berchtesgaden summit trail
Six stages between summit moments and hut breaksYou’ve got strong endurance, solid alpine experience, a head for heights—and a love for rugged terrain? Then the demanding Berchtesgaden Summit Trail is made for you. Between dramatic rock faces and sweeping panoramas, this route takes you deep into the Berchtesgaden Alps and up to some of their most rewarding peaks.
Your first stop is Schneibsteinhaus. From there, the classic “Kleine Reibn” route leads you to secluded Lake Seeleinsee and into the Steinernes Meer—a vast rocky plateau that seems to stretch endlessly and truly lives up to its name. Passing Kärlingerhaus and Lake Funtensee, you continue along the Wimbachgries valley.
The next day, you climb up to Hochalm at the Hochkalter massif before continuing to Blaueishütte—perfect for a well-earned break. The Reiter Alm massif challenges you once again, as do the Lattengebirge mountains above Bischofswiesen.
And throughout the entire journey, one thing remains the same: every bit of effort is rewarded with views that take your breath away.
