Stage 1a of the Berchtesgaden Summit Trail begins at Schneibsteinhaus and leads over Schneibstein, past Seeleinsee, and through the Hochgschirr and the Landtal valley to Wasseralm in the Röth.
Start at Schneibsteinhaus and climb to the 2,276-meter summit of Schneibstein. It is considered the easiest 2,000-meter peak to climb in the Berchtesgaden mountains. From its high plateau, you’ll enjoy spectacular views. Follow the Kleine Reibn route down to Seeleinsee, a small mountain lake. If you’re looking for an ice-cold refreshment, you can take a quick dip.
Shortly after the lake, the trail branches off to the left toward Hochgschirr. From here, enjoy sweeping views into Landtal valley, across to Röthbach Waterfall, and toward Steinernes Meer. The trail continues past the western slopes of Hanauerlaubwand to Wasseralm. This small Alpine Club hut lies in the Röth basin between Hagengebirge and Steinernes Meer.
