Piding, the southernmost municipality in the picturesque Rupertiwinkel region, welcomes you to the heart of the Berchtesgadener Land district. This charming place is surrounded by striking natural scenery: to the south rise the majestic Hochstaufen (1,771 meters) and Mount Fuderheuberg (1,350 meters). To the east, the Saalach river winds through the landscape, while Högl (827 meters) defines the northwest. In the northeast, the Saalach also forms the natural border to the state of Salzburg in Austria. Flowing right through the center of the municipality, home to around 6,000 residents, is the scenic Stoißer Ache stream.

Choosing Piding as your vacation base means arriving with ease. The municipality has its own train station and sits just minutes from the A8 highway toward Salzburg—perfect for a stay with excellent connections. Love hiking or biking? Piding offers a wide range of walking trails, hikes, and cycling routes for every level. Experienced climbers can take on the Piding via ferrata—an exciting challenge and a true climbing highlight.

In Piding, you’re surrounded by an idyllic landscape of fields, forests, and meadows, with the striking peaks of the Berchtesgaden Alps always in view. In summer, cool off in one of the nearby lakes. And when it comes to culture, you’re in the right place—experience Bavarian traditions and living customs up close.

The city of Salzburg, famous for its world-class cultural scene, is just about 20 minutes away. Equally close is Berchtesgaden, with its nearby towns and villages, iconic sights, and the unspoiled nature of Germany’s only Alpine national park. Piding is the perfect starting point to experience the full diversity and beauty of Bavaria.
