The experts at the Alpine Information Service are available in person for two hours each day, Monday through Friday, to answer your questions. They can advise you on current weather conditions, mountain hut reservations, and route planning.

There are plenty of questions to consider before setting out on a hike, mountain tour, or climbing adventure—from current weather and trail conditions to places to stop for food and drinks along the way. The Alpine Information Service, now a well-established institution in Berchtesgaden, is here to help. Several alpine experts are available in person Monday through Friday from 4 PM to 6 PM to answer your questions and provide advice on weather conditions, mountain hut reservations, and route planning.

 

Alpine Information Service in Berchtesgaden Kurgarten

You’ll find the Alpine Information Center in a very central location, right in the heart of Berchtesgaden in the Kurgarten. It is operated by the Berchtesgaden section of the German Alpine Club (DAV) in cooperation with Bergerlebnis Berchtesgaden, Berchtesgaden National Park, and the Berchtesgaden Mountain Guides Association.

    Alpine advice, tour and mountain hut bookings

    The experts at the Alpine Information Service are available in person Monday through Friday from 4 PM to 6 PM to answer your questions and provide personalized advice. They can advise you on current weather conditions, mountain hut reservations, and route planning. The Alpine Information Service can also help you find last-minute places to stay at mountain huts operated by the Berchtesgaden section of the German Alpine Club (DAV) or book the “Hüttenrunde Gipfelwege” hut-to-hut package. You can also get answers to frequently asked questions: Is camping allowed in the national park? No! What is cell phone reception like in the mountains? Where can you find the latest webcam images? You can also contact the Alpine Information Service by email or phone.

    Since 2024, you can book guided tours directly through the Alpine Information Service. As a DAV member, you can join pre-planned weekly tours with hiking guides to mountain huts in the Berchtesgaden area or book a private tour tailored to your interests. Non-members can also join a tour to try it out and become a member of the local DAV section if they would like to participate in more activities. You can also book guided day trips and multi-day tours with hiking guides from the Berchtesgaden section of the German Alpine Club or with state-certified mountain guides.
