Stage 1b of the Berchtesgaden Summit Trail begins at Schneibsteinhaus and takes you past the Kleine Reibn and Seeleinsee along the lower Hirschenlauf up to Gotzenalm.
You’ll start at the Schneibsteinhaus and hike up to the 2,276-meter-high Schneibstein. It’s considered the easiest 2,000-meter peak to climb in the Berchtesgaden Mountains. From its high plateau, you’ll enjoy a spectacular view. On the Kleine Reibn trail, you’ll descend to Seeleinsee, a small mountain lake. Feel like an ice-cold dip? Then take the plunge into Seeleinsee. Shortly after the lake, the trail branches off to the right into the Stiergraben toward the Priesbergalmen. Keep an eye out for the turnoff to the lower Hirschenlauf. Follow the narrow path—which features wooden steps and some secured sections—to reach the forest road, and follow it to the high plateau of Gotzenalm.
