Gotzenalm - Wasseralm - Kärlingerhaus

Stage 2 of the Berchtesgaden Summit Trail takes you from Gotzenalm via Wasseralm, Schwarzensee, and Grünsee to Kärlingerhaus.

From Gotzenalm, hike to idyllic Regenalm before following a wide arc into Landtal valley. From there, enjoy spectacular views of Röthbach Waterfall and Steinerne Meer. The trail continues past the western slopes of Hanauerlaubwand to Wasseralm in the Röth. Sections of the trail are exposed. From the small Alpine Club hut, continue toward Halsköpfl and on to Schwarzensee and Grünsee, whose striking green waters live up to its name. Climb the so-called Himmelsleiter to the high plateau, where you’ll reach Funtensee and Kärlingerhaus. The lakes at this elevation are karst lakes whose waters drain into Lake Königssee.
