Since 2006, the ALMErlebnisBUS has connected the Berchtesgaden National Park with the Weißbach Nature Park in the Salzburger Saalachtal. This means that the extensive nature reserve can be used as a local recreation area by anyone, no matter how good they are on foot. The ALMErlebnisBUS also connects two mountaineering villages: Ramsau, Germany's first mountaineering village and Weißbach near Lofer in the Salzburger Saalachtal!

From Hintersee in Ramsau to Weißbach near Lofer in Austria

The Ramsau alpine adventure bus starts at the Klausbachhaus at Hintersee in the mountaineering village of Ramsau. The route leads along the numerous alpine pastures of the Klausbachtal valley on the historic Salzsäumerstraße road to the Hirschbichl border crossing and on to Weißbach bei Lofer in the Salzburger Saalachtal valley.

Klausbachtal: the valley of alpine pastures and eagles

Numerous alpine pastures line the route of the alpine adventure bus or can be reached with a short walk. For example, the Halsalm, the Ragertalm and the Bindalm. The Hirschbichl pass with the mountain restaurant of the same name marks the border between Germany and Austria. On the Austrian side, you can hike to the Litzlalm with snack station, the Kammerlingalm and the Kallbrunnalm, also with a snack station! The Klausbach Valley is the valley of alpine pastures between Bavaria and Austria!

The Klausbach Valley in Ramsau am Hintersee is also known as the Valley of the Eagles. The Berchtesgaden National Park offers several opportunities for eagle watching, for example guided hikes or live pictures in the Klausbachhaus, which are transmitted from a camera on an eagle's nest. A new eagle observation station provides insights into the breeding, hunting and thermal areas of golden eagles. Other attractions in the Klausbach Valley include the suspension bridge and the viewing platform at the game feeding station, both of which are barrier-free and make these unique natural experiences accessible to people with limited mobility.
