The suspension bridge in the Klausbach Valley
Barrier-free suspension bridge in Berchtesgaden National Park- Jederzeit frei zugänglich
- Ramsau
Since 2010, a 55-meter-long, barrier-free suspension bridge has been part of the hiking trail through the Klausbachtal valley from Hintersee to Hirschbichl.
In 1999, the entire summit structure of the Kleiner Mühlsturzhorn erupts and 250,000 m³ of rock thunders into the Klausbachtal valley. Hiking trails, the Hirschbichl road and the old bridges are buried under masses of rubble and dust. The Klausbach valley resembles a lunar landscape. The destruction of the bridge over the Klausbach interrupts the hiking trail to Hirschbichl. In 2010, this gap in the hiking trail network of the Berchtesgaden National Park is closed again by a new suspension bridge. The 55-metre-long and 11-metre-high structure replaces the small bridge over the Klausbach, which had to be rebuilt almost every year after floods, minor rockfalls and avalanches.
Barrier-free in Berchtesgaden National Park
There are various barrier-free hiking trails in the Klausbach Valley. For example, 2 or 4 km long paths lead to the game feeding station, which is equipped with a wheelchair-accessible viewing platform. You can also choose a slightly longer path (6 km; incline of 6 - 10 % in places) that leads to the barrier-free suspension bridge, which is unique in the Alps. If this route is too challenging, you can take the public Alm-Erlebnis bus on a road through the valley in summer. The low-floor bus stops at several stops, e.g. at the suspension bridge, the Bindalm or the Hirschbichl Pass.
