Eagle's Nest

The Kehlsteinhaus, also known as the Eagle’s Nest, sits high above Berchtesgaden at an elevation of 1,834 meters above sea level. Its history is inseparably tied to that of Obersalzberg. Between 1933 and 1945, Obersalzberg became the Nazi regime’s second most important center of power after Berlin—a place where decisions were made about persecution, war, and genocide.

Obersalzberg Documentation Center

About 350 objects, documents, photographs, and multimedia elements are on display here, providing insight into this historic site and telling the stories of the victims. The largest exhibit is the historic bunker complex, which is open to the public as part of the permanent exhibition.

Hike or bike up to Mount Kehlstein

via the Dalsenwinkl road

The Kehlstein road is closed to public traffic, as well as to cyclists and pedestrians. To reach the top on foot or by mountain bike, take the Dalsenwinkl road along the north side of Kehlstein, which leads you up to the bus turnaround point.
