Engertalm National Park information point
From managed forest to natural woodland- Open today
- Ramsau
At Engertalm in the Klausbachtal valley, you'll find this small Berchtesgaden National Park information point dedicated to the changing forest landscape.
Engertalm is an alpine pasture in Klausbach Valley with no active farming or food service. Numerous hiking trails and mountain biking routes lead into the valley. In summer, the ALMErlebnisBUS bus also stops at Engert. The information point is located in a small wooden building right beside the road.
For centuries, forests in Berchtesgaden National Park were managed for timber, even at higher elevations. Today, the goal is to gradually restore them to their natural state, following the National Park's guiding principle: “Let nature be nature.” The small exhibition at Engert information point shows you what a natural forest looks like and how conservation efforts can support this transformation.
