Start at AlpenCongress Berchtesgaden and walk past the cemetary toward Luitpoldpark. There, bear right onto Kälbersteinstraße and follow it uphill for a few hundred meters before turning right again. This is where the Soleleitungssteg begins, a wooden walkway above the town center of Berchtesgaden that leads you to Weinfeld. At Weinfeld, you’ll find not only the idyllic Kirchleitn Chapel but also information panels about salt and its history. From the chapel, walk downhill for 300 meters, then turn right toward Berchtesgaden Hospital. Once you reach Locksteinstraße, you’ll be rewarded with a spectacular view across Berchtesgaden to the surrounding mountains, including Watzmann. Finally, walk through Nonntal and the pedestrian zone to return to your starting point.
