The Haslinger family - over 140 years of hospitality in Berchtesgaden
The roots of the Haslinger family of restaurateurs go back to 1883, when the innkeeper and butcher Alois Liegle and his wife Elisabeth took over the "Gasthaus Zum Nonntal". After the death of Alois Liegl in 1907, his wife initially ran the inn alone. Their daughter Elise, who had trained as a cook in Milan, later married Josef Haslinger, a former cavalryman from Lower Bavaria who had worked as a chamber boy for the owner of the Hofbrauhaus, Rudolf Kriss.
In 1919, Elise and Josef Haslinger took over the management of the inn. Elise became the defining figure in the kitchen and was the central force at the stove for over 50 years, while Josef was active as a landlord and entrepreneur. He founded a haulage company and ran the first cab in the Berchtesgaden valley. The couple had three children: Peppi, Siegfried and Gabriele.
His son Siegfried Haslinger took over the Gasthaus Nonntal together with his wife Maria in 1961. The purchase of the house enabled it to be modernized and made even more attractive for guests. In 1979, the couple moved to the "Hotel Post", where their son Peppi later took over the management.
Peppi Haslinger was active in the restaurant business from an early age. In 1970, he and his wife Lotte opened the gourmet restaurant "Haslinger am Luitpoldpark". However, after his mother fell ill, he returned to support the family and finally took over the management of the Hotel Post in 1983. Since 1996, Peppi has been running the traditional restaurant "Goldener Bär" in the center of Berchtesgaden with great success. From 2017, his children Marie and Max joined him in the management of the hotel, passing the family tradition on to the next generation.
