On the scenic Rinnkendlsteig trail, you’ll hike from St. Bartholomä at Lake Königssee to Kühroint. Along the way, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views down toward Königssee, for example from the Archenkanzel, one of the most popular lookout points above the lake. Fixed cables are mainly found in the upper section of Rinnkendlsteig.
On the challenging Rinnkendlsteig trail (KS 1), which is secured in places, you’ll hike from Sankt Bartholomä am Königssee along the eastern cliffs of Kleiner Watzmann to the Kührointalm plateau. This is the most challenging—but also the most rewarding—ascent to Kührointhütte. On this trail, which is secured in several places, you’ll enjoy beautiful, sweeping views down toward Königssee and hike largely through the core zone of Berchtesgaden National Park. Caution: There is a risk of falling rocks in some places.
Caution: For experienced hikers only! The Rinnkendlsteig trail can only be tackled by truly experienced mountaineers who are absolutely sure-footed, have a head for heights, and are in excellent physical condition. We recommend following the ascent route as described in the directions.
