From “Scheitelstrecke” parking lot 5, at an elevation of approximately 1,540 meters, a short hiking trail leads you to the Rossfeld summit cross. In winter, this route is especially popular with ski tourers, but it's also ideal for snowshoeing. From the summit cross, enjoy a breathtaking panorama stretching from the Lattengebirge mountains and Untersberg across Rupertiwinkel, Salzburg, the Salzach Valley, Dachstein, and Tennengebirge all the way to Hoher Göll.
Continue toward Hoher Göll along the ridge until you reach Rossfeld Panorama Road, where you'll take off your snowshoes. Follow the sidewalk along Hahnenkamm to “Ahornbüchsenkopf” parking lot 4. Here, strap your snowshoes back on and climb to the summit of Ahornbüchsenkopf (1,604 meters).
After your descent, stop for a relaxing break at Ahornkaser mountain restaurant before following the winter hiking trail back to the road. Follow the cleared sidewalk along the upper section of Rossfeld Panorama Road back to your starting point.
