Whether you're ski touring or snowshoeing, please follow the 10 environmental guidelines of the German Ski Association (DSV).
From the Wimbachbrücke parking lot, follow the signs toward Watzmannhaus. At first, you'll hike along a trail usually packed down by skiers, reaching a cleared forest road after about 250 meters. Shortly afterward, turn right off the road and follow the ski tracks up a narrow, steep trail. A series of switchbacks takes you uphill through dense spruce forest.
As the trail begins to level out, you're almost at your destination: the Alpine huts of Stubenalm. Here, enjoy magnificent views of the Ramsau Valley and the Hoher Göll massif to the east.
For the descent, follow a forest trail southeast, usually packed down by ski tourers, until you reach the Schapbach junction. From there, take the forest road you followed for part of your ascent back to your starting point.
