The Pearl of Rupertiwinkel
Lake Höglwörth covers an area of approximately 13.5 hectares and is 8 to 10 meters deep. It was formed after the Saalach Glacier melted about 10,000 years ago and provides a habitat for numerous animal species, such as pike, catfish, zander, eels, carp, perch, tench, whitefish, ducks, coots, and mute swans. Located in the Rupertiwinkel region, Höglwörth is a district of the municipality of Anger. The town was part of the Prince-Archbishopric of Salzburg until 1803 and became part of the Kingdom of Bavaria in 1810.
