Gotzentalalm is located at the beginning of the long, winding forest road that climbs to Gotzenalm. In summer, this scenic route is especially popular with mountain bikers.

Hiking through Gotzental

Your hike to Gotzentalalm begins either at the Hinterbrand parking area or at the parking lot at Lake Königssee. Passing the Jennerbahn mid-station, the trail leads you via Königsbachalm to Gotzentalalm. Today, the alpine pasture is home to four traditional Kaser, alpine huts, and a service hut. In 1859, there were as many as nine huts here. From Gotzentalalm, the route continues to Gotzenalm, climbing a steep forest road in a series of switchbacks.

Descent to Kessel

From Gotzentalalm, situated at an elevation of 1,110 meters, you can descend to the Kessel boat landing on Lake Königssee. The boats of the Königssee fleet stop here only on request. The descent via the Kesselsteig trail is steep and challenging.
