A walk that becomes an intense nature experience: through glistening ice landscapes between the Hochkalter and Reiter Alm to the game feeding station in Klausbachtal in Berchtesgaden National Park.

Winter hiking to the game feeding

The starting point is the Hirschbichlstraße parking lot at Hintersee. From there, the path is almost flat with only a very slight incline to the game feeding station. And then it's time to wait and be excited: the red deer silently emerge from the forest and approach the feeding troughs in the clearing. Up to 50 red deer can be seen here in some winters. A newly designed, barrier-free viewing platform ensures a good view for all wildlife watchers.

If you wish, you can also take a horse-drawn sleigh ride to the game feeding area. Up to 12 people can fit on such a sleigh. The ride from the Klausbachhaus national park information point to the game feeding station takes around 30 minutes.

Between Hochkalter and Reiter Alm

The mighty and snow-covered Hochkalter and Reiter Alm mountain ranges, which rise imposingly to the left and right of the trail, are impressive. The way back can be done on a forest path off the outward route, providing further variety. The entire trail is cleared in winter and is almost completely flat, making it ideal for families with children. If you wish, you can finish the tour with a walk around the Hintersee or stop off at a pub by the lake.
