One of the highlights of your hike to Wimbachschloss is the spectacular Wimbachklamm gorge, a narrow ravine made accessible by a series of wooden walkways and bridges.

Once you've passed the Wimbachklamm gorge, you'll leave the roaring water behind you and continue hiking along a gentle incline—mostly on the right side of the valley—until you reach Wimbachschloss.

Caution: The wooden walkways through the gorge can be wet and slippery. Be sure to wear sturdy footwear with good traction.

Directions

Your hike starts at Wimbachbrücke. From here, enjoy an easy walk south along the Wimbach, first across meadows and then through open woodland to the entrance of the Wimbachklamm gorge. The trail leads you through this spectacular gorge, where the first wooden walkway was built by forestry workers from Ramsau to help transport timber to the saltworks.

Continue along the marked trail toward Wimbachgrieshütte. Once you reach the vast scree deposits of Wimbachgries, follow the gently climbing trail to Wimbachschloss, where you can stop for food and refreshments. For the return trip, retrace your route to the gorge, then follow the trail above the Wimbachklamm gorge back to your starting point.
