Alpine hike to Schneibsteinhaus

The hike takes you from Königssee along the Hochbahn trail through shady spruce forest to Königsbachalm. Here, you leave the dense forest behind and continue across alpine meadows and through open stands of mountain pine, following a route parallel to the Königsbach gorge to Schneibsteinhaus.

Tip: For sweeping views into the Bluntautal valley on the Austrian side, make the short detour to Torrener Joch, 40 meters higher, where the beautifully situated Carl-von-Stahl-Haus awaits. If you’d rather avoid the 1,000-meter climb, start at the Hinterbrand parking lot and hike across lush alpine meadows to Königsbachalm.
