The three-day Königssee – Steinernes Meer hike takes you from picturesque Königssee along alpine trails and paths via idyllic Wasseralm to Kärlingerhaus, before continuing to Ingolstädterhaus.

From there, you descend via the impressive Hundstodgatterl and picturesque Wimbachgries to Ramsau. Along the way, spectacular views and unforgettable experiences in the mountains reward you for the challenges of this demanding route.

Directions

Here’s what your three-day hike with two overnight stays in mountain huts could look like:

Day 1

  • Take the first boat across Königssee to Salet.
  • Hike along Obersee to Fischunkelalm.
  • Pass Röthbach Waterfall and climb up to Wasseralm.
  • Continue via Schwarzensee and Grünsee to Kärlingerhaus at Funtensee, where you’ll spend the night.

Day 2

  • Consider a detour to Viehkogel or Feldkogel.
  • Continue across the Steinernes Meer plateau to Ingolstädterhaus, where you’ll spend your second night.

Day 3

  • Hike across Steinernes Meer to Hundstodgatterl.
  • Descend via Trischübel into Wimbachgries.
  • Your hike ends in the mountaineering village of Ramsau.
