At an elevation of 2,119 meters, this Alpine Club hut welcomes you below Großer Hundstod, surrounded by the vast karst plateau of Steinernes Meer. From here, you can enjoy spectacular views across the rocky high plateau and surrounding peaks. The hut is a popular destination for experienced hikers and mountaineers and an important stop on multi-day hut-to-hut hikes.

Ingolstädter Haus is one of the most important starting points for mountain hikes in Steinernes Meer. From here, you can set out for peaks such as Großer Hundstod and Schindlköpfe, or explore the vast high plateau of Steinernes Meer. At the same time, the hut is a key stop on multi-day hut-to-hut hikes through the Berchtesgaden Alps and connects, among other places, Kärlingerhaus with other Alpine Club huts in the region.
Staying at Ingolstädter Haus
As a Category I Alpine Club hut, Ingolstädter Haus offers simple yet cozy accommodations. For overnight stays, you can choose from shared rooms, dormitory-style sleeping areas, and a winter room. After a long day in the mountains, you can relax on the sun terrace or in the rustic dining room. The hut hosts will serve you regional dishes before you set off on the next leg of your journey the following morning.

Hiking up to Ingolstädter Haus
The classic route to Ingolstädter Haus starts in Pürzlbach in Weißbach bei Lofer, Austria, and leads via Kallbrunnalm and the Dießbachstausee reservoir up into Steinernes Meer. Depending on the route, allow around five hours for the hike up. Sure-footedness, good stamina, and alpine experience are essential, as the high-alpine terrain requires mountain experience and careful route planning.
