Myths and mystical energy: Mount Untersberg
Untersberg is steeped in myths and legends. One of the best known is the story of Emperor Charlemagne inside Untersberg: According to legend, he waits inside the mountain for the day he will rise again. Every hundred years he awakens, but as long as birds are still circling Untersberg, he returns to sleep. Untersberg also holds special significance for esoteric and Buddhist communities: During a visit to Salzburg, the city of Mozart, in 1992, the Dalai Lama described Untersberg as the “heart chakra of Europe.”
