Untersberg Loop: day 4

On the final day of your four-day Untersberg Loop, follow Alpine Club Trail 417 downhill via Gatterl to Roßlanderweg (Alpine Club Trail 466), which traverses to Scheibenkaser beneath the popular climbing walls on the Untersberg’s southern face. Every year, cattle are driven along this traditional route from Ettenberg via Scheibenkaser and Rosslandersteig, through Gatterl and up to Lusabethkaser.

Continue downhill on Alpine Club Trail 466. About 50 meters before the Rossboden hiking parking lot, turn right onto the signed trail to Theresienklause on the Almbach stream. From here, you descend through the narrow Almbachklamm gorge on rocky paths, walkways, and bridges to Kugelmühle. Take a moment to see the historic marble mills, where the waters of Almbach have been used for centuries to grind chunks of marble into smooth spheres. Follow the access road to the bus stop on the B 20, where RVO buses take you back to Berchtesgaden.
