Hirschkaser
Mountain restaurant at Hochschwarzeck- Open today
- Ramsau
Hirschkaser mountain restaurant sits at an elevation of 1,391 meters on the summit of Hirscheck, high above the mountaineering village of Ramsau. From the terrace, you can enjoy magnificent views of Watzmann and Hochkalter, with the Wimbachtal valley stretching between them.
You can hike to Toter Mann or Hirschkaser from Ramsau or Bischofswiesen. Or take the Hochschwarzeck chairlift, which takes just 14 minutes from the valley station at Hochschwarzeck to the mountain station right next to Hirschkaser. A short detour to Bezoldhütte at the nearby Toter Mann viewpoint—one of six stops along the Ramsau Legends and Fairy Tales Trail—rewards you with sweeping views across the Berchtesgaden valley basin all the way to Salzburg. Other hiking trails lead from here to Söldenköpfl or Götschen. Hirschkaser is also popular with mountain bikers: The climb to Hirschkaser is part of the more challenging option of MTB Tour 6: Loipl/Schwarzeck Loop.
Whether you arrive on foot, by bike, or by chairlift, Hirschkaser is always a popular destination.
