A wonderful, accessible hike from the Salet boat dock to Obersee, offering magnificent views of the lake and the impressive mountain scenery.

From the Salet boat dock on the southern shore of Lake Königssee, follow a flat trail past the Saletalm mountain restaurant directly to the western shore of Lake Obersee. From there, you can continue hiking to Fischunkelalm on the opposite shore of the lake. The return trip takes you back along the same route.

Directions

Just a few steps from the boat dock, you'll reach the Saletalm mountain restaurant, the perfect place to enjoy a meal or a refreshing drink. From there, the trail leads through a short stretch of dense forest with moss-covered boulders before opening up to Obersee and a small boathouse with a dock. This is where the accessible section of the trail ends. Beyond this point, the path climbs steeply over numerous steps and rocky sections. From the western shore of Obersee, you'll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. The massive boulders scattered between Königssee and Obersee, which still shape the landscape today, were left behind by a major rockslide in 1172.

Take a break at one of the benches along the trail and soak in the peaceful surroundings. An accessible restroom is also available at the boat dock.
