On this ski tour to Götschenkopf, you'll climb from Bischofswiesen through the forest, following the ski run that leads down to the valley. From there, continue along the "Familienabfahrt" ski slope to just below the summit station. A short, steep trail leads into the woods and up to the summit of Götschenkopf.

The main ski slope (FIS downhill run, slope 1) is generally closed to ascending ski tourers from the valley station to the connecting trail leading to the chairlift's summit station.

Directions

From Bischofswiesen train station, follow the Götschen valley run past Hotel Reissenlehen, across the meadows, and into a clearing in the forest. Take the narrow ski slope on the left and follow it through the woods, tackling some fairly steep sections along the way. Just before reaching the main ski slope, you'll come to a road crossing your route.

Follow the road south for a short distance, keeping to its right side, until you reach a signpost pointing toward Toter Mann and Söldenköpfl. Turn right into the forest and follow the forest trails across mostly flat terrain toward the summit of Götschenkopf. There's usually an existing ski track to follow. From there, zigzag up the steeper final stretch to the summit.

Alternatively, after crossing the road, you can stay on the ski slope and follow it uphill to the chairlift's summit station. From there, it's just a few minutes to the highest point, where you'll enjoy lovely views of several surrounding peaks, even if the panorama is somewhat limited.
