From a raging torrent to Baroque frescoes.
The starting and ending point of your hike is Germany’s oldest ball mill still in operation. The well-maintained trail through the Almbachklamm gorge offers exciting views of the rushing torrent with impressive waterfalls and huge pools. Afterward, the gorge widens into a lovely valley. At the end of the hike, you’ll find the picturesque pilgrimage church Mariä Heimsuchung (Visitation of Mary), built in 1724–25. At the neighboring Wirtshaus Mesnerwirt, you can enjoy a hearty snack while taking in the magnificent view. A steep trail leads you directly back to the starting point.
