Bavarian pub culture at the Mesnerwirt

The Mesnerwirt is a typical owner-managed inn with a long tradition: Bavarian and Austrian cuisine, Bavarian beer and a large selection of coffee specialties make the inn - in addition to its exposed location - widely known. There is room in two rustic dining rooms or in the sunny garden. From here you can enjoy the view of the Berchtesgaden and Salzburg mountains.

History of the Mesnerwirt

There is documentary evidence that Mesner were resident on the Ettenberg from 1708. In 1727, the prince provost granted them permission to brew and serve beer. Strict conditions were attached to this; for example, it was forbidden to supply young lads and the traveling public with the barley juice. Failure to comply could result in the revocation of the license. Over the centuries, this former sacristan's house with beer bar, just a few steps away from the pilgrimage church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary, developed into today's Mesnerwirt inn.
