This trend has now reached Germany as well, and via ferratas are being built in various regions of the Bavarian Alps. You’ll also find several via ferratas in the Berchtesgadener Land. The fascination of via ferrata
The fascination with via ferrata lies mainly in the fact that you don’t need a climbing partner for this new type of climbing. However, some of the routes require a high level of technical skill. If you attempt a via ferrata as a complete beginner, you could find yourself in a desperate situation and have to call the mountain rescue service. These mountain rescue operations are very expensive and must be paid for by you. To avoid such situations and start via ferrata climbing with proper training from the very beginning, you have the opportunity to learn the basics of vertical climbing. Please note that minors may only participate in via ferrata courses if accompanied by a parent, and the minimum age requirement for the respective course must be met.
