Routes to Zeppezauerhaus
The easiest way to reach Zeppezauerhaus is by taking the cable car. From the Untersbergbahn's summit station at Geiereck, it’s just a 20-minute walk along Alpine Club Trail 213. If you prefer to hike up from Glanegg, you can follow either Reitsteig, Alpine Club Trail 211, or the more challenging Dopplersteig, Alpine Club Trail 212. Both routes take about two and a half hours. The mountain huts on the German side of Untersberg, Stöhrhaus and Toni-Lenz-Hütte, can be reached on foot across the Hochthron high plateau. All of these huts are connected by the scenic Untersberg Loop, a multi-day hut-to-hut hike.
The Untersberg cable car
The Untersbergbahn takes you from Grödig-St. Leonhard, just across the Austrian border, up to the summit station at Geiereck at an elevation of 1,805 meters. The cable car runs every half hour year-round and more frequently when needed. Summer operating hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; in winter, the cable car runs from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
