From Watzmann—with its legendary traverse and famous east face—to the via ferrata routes and cave systems of Untersberg, and even the gentler hills of the Rupertiwinkel region: the Mountain Rescue Service responds to emergencies in terrain as diverse as the challenges themselves.

Helicopters and state-of-the-art equipment—such as thermal imaging drones and specialized cave gear—are essential tools for these dedicated volunteers.

You can call for help using light signals, shouting, or a whistle.

How it works: 6 signals per minute (one every 10 seconds), followed by a 1-minute pause—then repeat.
