The Slow Bike Route links the “Three EuRegio Summits”—Gaisberg, Högl, and Buchberg—with the alpine town of Bad Reichenhall and the city of Salzburg, Mozart’s birthplace. Perfect for laid-back cycling and e-biking.

Start your ride in Bad Reichenhall. From here, four stages lead you across 165 kilometers through the Bavarian–Austrian border region. Gentle climbs up Högl, Gaisberg, and Buchberg reward you with sweeping views over Berchtesgaden and Salzburg.

Love relaxed rides with great views? Then “Slow Bike” is made for you: a 160-kilometer cycling route connecting the Berchtesgadener Land district and Salzburg.

The bike-friendly mountains of Gaisberg, Högl, and Buchberg form the heart of the route, with gentle climbs that are all about enjoying the ride—not pushing your limits.

The route was designed with e-bikes in mind, too: along the way, you’ll find rental stations and charging points. Around 50 information panels also introduce you to local landmarks as well as fascinating cultural, natural, and geological highlights along the route.

The route was officially opened on May 8, 2015, at Zistelalm on Gaisberg near Salzburg.
