Watzmann–Hochkönig Loop

Mountain biking around the Berchtesgaden Alps

Ride a full loop around the Berchtesgaden Alps. The Watzmann–Hochkönig Loop takes its name from the two highest mountain massifs in the region and splits into a southern and a northern loop, each with five stages.

The southern loop, with nearly 8,000 meters of elevation gain, really puts you to the test—a true challenge for ambitious mountain bikers. The gentler northern loop still features 3,800 meters of elevation gain, spread across five daily stages. And if you’re very fit and really pushing it, you can tackle it all in just three days.

The perfect route for every cyclist

Whether you prefer a relaxed ride along rivers and lakes, heading up to an alpine hut for a hearty snack, or pushing yourself on a road bike: in Berchtesgaden and the Rupertiwinkel, you’ll find your perfect route.
