A short but steep hike to the spectacularly situated alpine pasture of Scheibenkaser below Untersberg
From the free Rossboden hiking parking lot at Ettenberg, you’ll hike up a steep trail to Scheibenkaser. This idyllic alpine pasture is spectacularly situated beneath the cliffs of Mount Untersberg. You’ll return via the same trail.

Never enter the nearby via ferrata without the proper safety equipment.
From the starting point at the Rossboden parking lot in Ettenberg, about 3.5 kilometers from the center of Marktschellenberg, the trail leads directly uphill to Scheibenkaser. Allow about 2.5 hours for the ascent. Return along the same trail.
From Scheibenkaser, you can continue along Stöhrweg to Stöhrhaus. The "Berchtesgadener Hochthron" via ferrata takes you to the summit of Untersberg, after which you can stop for food and refreshments at Stöhrhaus.
