Mount Jenner is famous for its spectacular views of Lake Königssee and Mount Watzmann. Just below the summit, a spacious viewing platform offers breathtaking panoramic views. To reach it, you'll need to climb 74 meters of elevation gain along the sometimes steep trail from the cable car's summit station.
From Jenner's summit or the viewing platform, you can admire one of the world's most beautiful natural wonders: emerald-green Lake Königssee, a place steeped in legends. Stretching more than 8 kilometers long and 1.2 kilometers wide, the lake winds between towering mountain cliffs like a fjord. From up here, you can clearly spot the electric boats cruising across the water and the famous St. Bartholomä pilgrimage church on the Hirschau Peninsula.
Beyond Lake Königssee rises Watzmann, the most famous mountain massif in the Berchtesgaden Alps. To the south lies Steinernes Meer, an impressive high-altitude karst plateau stretching between Watzmann, Königssee, the Hagengebirge mountains, Hochkönig, and Hochkalter. The largest mountain massif in the Berchtesgaden Alps resembles a vast sea turned to stone, its rugged peaks and ridges rising and falling like restless waves. That's how Steinernes Meer, or "Sea of Stone," got its name.
