Behind Berchtesgaden Central Station, you’ll find a pump track and skatepark offering ideal conditions for Berchtesgaden’s biking and skating communities to enjoy their sports close to home.

A pump track means one thing above all else: fun! The track runs in an endless loop and challenges you with bumps, steep turns, and—if you want—jumps, too. By using rhythmic up-and-down movements—known as “pumping”—you build up speed without having to pedal or push off.

The pump track

On a pump track, cyclists accelerate not by pedaling, but by pumping over paved undulations. The Berchtesgaden pump track is modeled after the facility in Wals-Siezenheim near Salzburg. However, the Berchtesgaden pump track is smaller than its Salzburg counterpart and is designed for both beginners and experienced riders. The pump track is an excellent place to practice mountain biking. The special pull-and-push technique used on the pump track helps improve riding confidence off-road. The undulating course offers simple yet highly effective training. Designed as a continuous loop, the goal is to actively ride the course—with its undulations, curves, and the occasional jump—by using rhythmic up-and-down movements—known as “pumping”—to generate speed without pedaling or pushing off. A small 38-meter-long track is available for beginners and children. Experienced riders can let loose on the 119-meter-long course.

The Skatepark

Right next to the pump track by the train tracks, you’ll find a skatepark. On 530 square meters, you can practice new jumps on the ramps and grind on the rails with your skateboard, inline skates, or trick bike.

Even if you’d rather watch, this is the perfect spot for you: From the grassy areas and seating areas, you’ll have a great view of spectacular jumps and tricks.
