- 610m
Located on the southern shore of Lake Königssee along the trail to Obersee, Saletalm is surrounded by towering rock faces and serves regional specialties in a spectacular mountain setting.
After taking the electric boats operated by Königsseeschifffahrt and getting off at the Salet pier, it’s just a few minutes’ walk to Saletalm.
Saletalm alpine restaurant
Saletalm can only be reached by the electric boats on Lake Königssee or via extremely demanding alpine hiking trails. To accommodate the large number of visitors and keep waiting times to a minimum, the mountain restaurant operates as a self-service restaurant. The main dining room seats 90 guests, while the cozy Jägerstüberl offers seating for another 24. The shaded beer garden accommodates up to 200 guests. Please note that overnight accommodations are not available at Saletalm.
From Salet to Lake Obersee
From Salet, a beautiful hike to the slightly elevated Obersee awaits you. Along its western shore, a well-secured hiking trail leads you to Fischunkelalm at the southern end of Obersee.
Alpine farming at Saletalm
Next to the Saletalm restaurant, you’ll find a traditional double Kaser on the southern shore of Königssee, which is still shared today by the farming families from Mooslehen and Rennerlehen in Schönau am Königssee.
