Zauberwald Loop

Once you cross the street, you’ll find yourself entering the Zauberwald (Magic Forest) on your right. It’s easy to see how it got its name: Thousands of years ago, a massive rockslide created this extraordinary forest landscape. Enormous boulders, a rich variety of trees, mosses, and other plants, and a rushing mountain stream transport you straight into a fairy-tale world. Was that a dwarf peeking out from behind a tree root? Is that a fairy dancing above the spray? Once you reach Lake Hintersee, enjoy a leisurely walk along the shore. You can take Annerl, the small ferry boat on Lake Hintersee, across to the opposite shore. There, stop at one of the cafés or inns for a relaxing break and something to eat or drink.
