This variant of the 5th Stage of the Northern Section of the Watzmann Hochkönig circuit avoids the section to Mordau where you have to push and instead leads via the Hochschwarzeck to Lake Hintersee.
We start this stage in Marzoll am Schlossberg. We ride past the palace, church, moor and golf course, and cycle straight ahead to Gmainer Straße, cross the main road and cycle up the road towards Fürstenbrunn. After approx. 1.6 km we turn right towards the Latschenwirt Inn. At the end of the parking lot, a covered information board indicates that we are in the Untersberg Nature Park. We continue on our way slightly uphill along the stream, past the forest Kneipp facility to the hamlet of Bruchhäusl. We keep to the left on the asphalt road and leave it after less than 1 km via a narrow path, by continuing straight up the forest road. At the intersection with the asphalt road after approx. 100m, we keep to the left, then after approx. 50 m head to the right to the Reichenhaller Bundesstraße. We cross this and continue on the forest path on the opposite side in the direction of the railway tracks, but we do not cross them, instead we cycle back to Reichenhaller Street. We cross it again diagonally to the right, up the street. Now, we head along the edge of the forest via Holzstube, back down to Reichenhaller Street. We ride over the railway line and turn left onto the cycle path just before the road. Here, we take the underpass to the other side of the road and continue cycling to the Winkll Landthal campsite.
Via the Schneckenmühl path we pass the pilgrimage church of Maria Hilf up to the Loipl and continue on the combined cycle and footpath next to the road to Hochschwarzeck. From here we descend and follow the German Alpine Road a few kilometres to Wetsen in the direction of Lake Taubensee. We circle Lake Taubensee and follow the Alte Reichenhaller Street to the junction with the König Max Weg, which we follow in the direction of Lake Hintersee.
