Your adventure begins right next to the ticket office at Berchtesgaden Salt Mine. Follow the blue signs that guide you along the trail. A short climb takes you to the first stop, the Salt Terrace, where you can put your salt knowledge to the test with fun quiz questions. Here, you’ll also get a first glimpse into the active part of the mine through informative images and a real piece of mining machinery.
Through the mine tunnel:
The trail continues to one of its highlights: Moserrösche, a 350-year-old mine tunnel. Along this 100-meter passage, information panels and an LED light installation immerse you in the history of glacial moraines and bring the mysterious world of mining to life.
Up and down:
After leaving Moserrösche, follow the blue signs to Pulverturm, another highlight of the SalzErlebnisPfad. A short flight of stairs leads to an exhibition of traditional Berchtesgaden wooden crafts, offering insight into how miners once supplemented their income.
A view of it all:
The tour concludes with spectacular views of Berchtesgaden from the observation deck. The surrounding mountains and the historic town center of Berchtesgaden spread out below you, while a numbered panorama board helps you identify the sights. From here, return to the visitor center, where your SalzErlebnisPfad adventure began.
