At the foot of Kneifelspitze

Marxenhöhe is located at the foot of Kneifelspitze. That’s why the hike to Kneifelspitze is often combined with a detour to Marxenhöhe. But the viewpoint is also well worth visiting as a destination in its own right.

From the Maria Gern pilgrimage church, follow the trail toward Kneifelspitze. After the first incline, a trail branches off to the right through the forest toward Marxenhöhe. Alternatively, you can do the hike as a loop: continue along the trail to Kneifelspitze until you reach the meadows of Kneifellehen. From there, the trail leads you downhill to Marxenhöhe. After a few meters through the forest, you’ll reach the viewpoint with several benches—the perfect spot to enjoy the view of Watzmann and the Berchtesgaden valley.
