If you dare to try the “Formula 1 of winter sports,” a brief but all the more intense thrill awaits you. Traveling at speeds of up to 120 kilometers per hour, you’ll race through the legendary ice track at Königssee in a bobsled taxi. About one minute after the start—or 1,270 meters later—you’ll reach the finish line. Along the way, you’ll experience enormous centrifugal forces of up to six Gs—that’s six times your own body weight. Once you reach the bottom, you’ll feel every muscle and experience the euphoria of a massive adrenaline rush.

Guest luge rides and bobsled taxi

This adrenaline-filled adventure is best suited for thrill-seekers without back problems, but it starts off at a surprisingly leisurely pace. Unlike in professional races, there's no running start. You can take your time getting settled into the four-person bobsled before it's pushed off and gradually picks up speed. But just seconds later, you're hurtling through legendary curves like “Snake Pit,” “Turbodrome,” and “Echo Wall”—turns that command respect even from the world's top athletes.

Summer bobsled rides

You can experience the thrill of bobsleigh at Lake Königssee in Bavaria even during the warmer months. Once the ice has melted and the artificial bobsleigh track at the foot of Mount Watzmann becomes a concrete chute, the bobsled pilots fit their racing sleds with wheels. For 65 euros per person, you can join the adventure as a copilot on select dates. With an experienced pilot at the controls, you'll race down the 1,200-meter concrete track used for World Cup and World Championship competitions. Hurtling through the curves at speeds of up to 100 kilometers per hour, you'll feel the incredible G-forces firsthand.

The world’s first artificially refrigerated ice track

Built in 1968, the bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton track at Königssee was the world's first artificially refrigerated ice track. Stretching 1.3 kilometers with a maximum gradient of 10.5%, it winds through 16 thrilling curves with memorable names like Devil's Mill, Turbodrome, and Echo Wall. Following extensive renovations in 2010, a severe storm destroyed large sections of this historic sports venue in July 2021. Following reconstruction, the track once again hosts international competitions starting with the 2026/2027 season.
