The Legend of Watzmann
The Legend of Watzmann tells of the cruel King Watzmann, who terrorized the land with his family through brutal hunting and violence. One day, when he killed a shepherd’s family, a desperate shepherd cursed the king. In response, God turned Watzmann, his wife, and their seven children into stone, forming the striking peaks of the Watzmann massif. Lake Königssee and Hundstod still serve as reminders of this tragic legend today.
