Bichleralm

Bichleralm sits right next to Harbachalm and is easy to reach on several scenic hiking trails. One of the most popular routes is the historic Klausenrundweg loop trail, which connects Bichleralm, Harbachalm, and Reiteralm. Known as the Three Alpine Pastures Hike, this rewarding hike invites you to experience three traditional mountain huts in a single unforgettable day.

Bichleralm: A unique alpine farmhouse

At Bichleralm, you'll discover a remarkable piece of alpine architecture. It is the only known mountain pasture where Berchtesgaden's traditional Zwiehof design was ever built.

A Zwiehof consists of two separate buildings—one for living and one for housing livestock. This distinctive farmhouse style is still a familiar sight on working farms throughout Berchtesgaden Valley. On alpine pastures, however, it has all but disappeared. Today, Bichleralm is the only known example of a Zwiehof on an alpine pasture—not only in the Bavarian Alps but throughout the entire Alpine foothills. That makes it truly one of a kind.

Hike to Bichleralm

The historic Klausenrundweg loop trail through Weißbach and Schneizlreuth leads you to Bäckinger Klause, Hientalklause, Harbachalm, Reiteralm, and Bichleralm. Along the way, informative interpretive panels bring the region's fascinating history of timber rafting to life.

Mountain biking to Bichleralm

You can reach the Bichleralm by mountain bike via a short detour from Mountain Bike Route 20: Keitlalm/Reiteralm Loop. Shortly after Harbachalm, the trail branches off toward Bichleralm.
