Historic Seestraße connects Königsseer Bahnhof, the former train station at Königssee, with the lakeshore and is perfect for a leisurely stroll. Along the way, you’ll find numerous shops, restaurants, and historic landmarks.

Explore the pedestrian zone along Seestraße leading to Königssee, where you’ll find various souvenir, sports, and traditional clothing shops. On the way to Königssee, you’ll also find numerous restaurants with beer gardens where you can stop for a relaxing break.

The narrow northern shore provides the only access to Königssee. Elsewhere, steep, rocky slopes drop down to the lake. Buildings began appearing along the lakeshore at an early date. Your walk along Seestraße begins at Königsseer Bahnhof, which served as the terminus of the Königsseebahn railway until 1965. On your way to the lake, you’ll pass numerous souvenir shops, sporting goods stores, and shops selling traditional Bavarian clothing.

Several historic buildings and monuments shape the character of Seestraße, including the magnificent façades of Hotel Schiffmeister, the historic Seewirtshaus, and the obelisk. The obelisk was erected in the center of the large square in 1911 to mark the 90th birthday of Prince Regent Luitpold.
